Answer: Every free nation has a national flag of its own. It is the symbol of independence and sovereignty of a free, country. Bangladesh is also a free country. So, she has got a flag of her own. Her people feel proud of her flag because it means that Bangladesh is a free and sovereign country. It reminds us of the valiant struggle of our freedom fighters to set the country free. Its shape is rectangular having a proportion of 10:6. It is of different sizes according to its use. The flag is hoisted every day on top of our important government buildings and educational institutions. It is hoisted everywhere on the occasions of the Independence Day and the victory day. The national flag is kept half-mast on the occasions of national mourning days. There are two colors. They are green and red. The green is the symbol of the youth and the red is the symbol of the sacrifices of the freedom fighters who laid down their lives. We salute the national flag and remember the supreme sacrifice of our freedom fighters. I feel very proud of my national flag because whenever and wherever I see the national flag it reminds me that I am a citizen of a free country. Hence, the sun globe signifies that our nation is continuous and everlasting. The blood-red color of the sun globe is a memorial for the endless sacrifice of our nation in the bloody struggle for liberation. We are determined to hold the prestige of the national flag up. We are proud of our country.

It is a piece of rectangular green cloth with a round red disclike patch in the middle. The radius of the red circle is one-fifth of the length of the flag. The green color represents the admiration of youthful vigor as well as the green fields and the evergreen subtropical forest of ‘Bangladesh. The red circle symbolizes the rising sun with new hopes and aspirations for a new nation. The red color also symbolizes blood. It reminds us of the history of our independence. Many heroic sons of this soil sacrificed their lives for the cause of independence. After a bloody war, Bangladesh finally became independent on 16th December 1971.
