Short Paragraph on A Rainy Day

Question: Write a paragraph in about 100-120 words on ‘a rainy day’. You have to use the following questions in writing this paragraph:

  • What is a rainy day?
  • How does the sky look on a rainy day?
  • What is the appearance of a rainy day?
  • What do animals do on this day?
  • What are the conditions of roads?
  • What happens to poor people?
  • How do students and some people spend the day?
Answer: If it so happens that it rains all day long, we call it a rainy day. In such a day, the sky remains cloudy. The sun is not seen at all. The day looks dull and gloomy. Sometimes it rains heavily and sometimes it drizzles. Often there are flashes of lightning and roars of thunder in the sky. Birds are hardly seen to fly. They keep standing on the branches of trees. Cattle keep standing on their sheds. In such a day, people have to remain indoors. The roads become almost muddy and desolate. One cannot mob easily from one place to another. One does not generally come out without compulsion. The poor suffer much. They cannot go out to earn their daily bread. It is a great joy to the students. Because classes are not held on such a day. Some people then spend time in gossiping, playing cards, singing or hearing songs. After all, a rainy day gibes us both joy and sorrow. It comes to different classes of people in different ways. I feel very delighted in such a day.

Sometimes it happens very destructively. Cattle may be washed away. Our properties may be destroyed. The land may go under water. All the crops may be washed away. The plants and trees may be uprooted. On a rainy day the poor suffer more than the rich. Suffering of the poor know no bounds. So’ a rainy day is not expected to all kinds of people.

So the suffer most after all, none can go our without an umbrella. The roads become muddy and slippery. In villages, people walk along with shoes in their hands. The cattle cannot graze. Children bathe in the rain water. Students fail to go to school, college and universities. Some people like poor idle away their time in gossiping and some sleep for some time. A rainy day is most welcome to students as they easily enjoy a holiday.

He cannot go out for his daily work. He sits on the rain-soaked floor under the leaky roofs. A rich man welcomes a rainy day. He enjoys the day staying indoors. He sits quietly by the window and listens to the music of the rain-fall. Poets feel thrill in their hearts. A rainy day is most welcome to the school children. They have a day’s holiday to enjoy. Cattle keep standing with-their heads bending low. Birds get wet and keep sitting on the branches of tress. Children come out in the rain and make-merriments. A rainy day’s evening seems to set in by day.
